“No Altior was made in ’20, so welcome back. It’s a clonal and barrel selection: 10 barrels chosen this vintage with about 40% new French oak, which is pared back from previous vintages and it’s all the better for it. A mass of dark cherries and plums, licorice-infused rhubarb, cedary spices and more besides. Full bodied and finely tuned yet rich and replete with supple tannins and a long thread of acidity tying everything up neatly.”
